Pledging
Pledging is how backers financially support campaigns on your site.
How pledging works
Section titled “How pledging works”A backer visits an active campaign page and selects a pledge amount — either one of the suggested amounts or a custom value. After clicking Pledge, they are redirected to the Checkout page to review and confirm their pledge. Once confirmed, they receive offline payment instructions explaining how to complete payment.
Pledge statuses
Section titled “Pledge statuses”A pledge moves through a simple lifecycle:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | Pledge submitted, awaiting payment |
| Succeeded | Payment received for the pledge |
| Canceled | Pledge withdrawn by the backer or by staff |
Refunds
Section titled “Refunds”Money returned to a backer is tracked separately from the status. A pledge that was paid stays Succeeded even after it is refunded — the refund shows as a neutral Partial Refund or Full Refund chip beside the status badge, never as a status of its own. See Refunds.
