Account

The Account item in the dashboard nav lets signed-in users manage their account without entering wp-admin. It is visible to every logged-in user with at least one of the plugin’s roles, and expands into five sections in the sidebar when the user is on it.

Section What it covers
Profile First name and last name. Both are optional. When provided, they are used in the backer list and in emails the plugin sends to the user.
Email Change the account email address. A confirmation link is sent to the new address; the change only takes effect after the link is clicked.
Password Change the account password. Requires the current password plus a new password that passes the strength meter. A security-alert email is sent after the change completes.
Notifications Toggle each category of transactional email. All categories are enabled by default. See Notification preferences.
Privacy Hide the user’s name on backer lists. Enabled by default for new accounts created in 0.9.0 or later.

On desktop these sections appear as indented links beneath the Account item in the sidebar. On screens narrower than 600px the entire sidebar moves into an off-canvas drawer that opens from the hamburger toggle; the sections live under the Account item in that drawer.

A Log out link sits at the bottom of the sidebar (under a divider) so users can sign out without finding a separate page.

The Notifications section groups every transactional email into toggle-able categories. Disabling a category stops that email from being sent to the user — the plugin skips it silently.

The categories are grouped by who receives them, and each person sees only the groups that apply to them: Emails about campaigns you’ve backed for backers, Emails about campaigns you manage for people who run campaigns, and Emails for staff for administrators and operators. Staff can switch their staff emails here or on their WordPress profile page; both change the same settings. See Staff emails.

Every notification email also includes a Unsubscribe link in the footer. Clicking it flips the matching category off and shows a confirmation page; the user does not need to log in. They can re-enable the category later from the Notifications section.

Some email types — password reset, email change confirmation, password changed, and email changed — are classified as security notifications and are always sent. They appear in Settings → Emails under an “Always on (security)” group and cannot be disabled by the user or by staff.

  1. Open the Email section.
  2. Enter the new email address and submit.
  3. Check the inbox of the new address for an email titled “Confirm your email change on {site_name}.”
  4. Click the Confirm email change link in that email.

Until the link is clicked, the account continues to use the old email address. The link is single-use and expires; if it lapses, repeat the request. After the change completes, both the old and new addresses receive a notification email so the user can spot an unauthorised change.

The Password section requires the current password plus a new password that passes the strength meter. The strength meter shows four levels (Weak, Fair, Good, Strong); the field will not submit while the password is rated Weak.

The new password input has a show/hide toggle so users can verify what they typed. A confirmation field is not shown.

After the change completes, a “Your password was changed” email is sent to the account’s email address as a security alert.

For accounts created in 0.9.0 or later, the Hide my name on backer lists toggle is enabled by default. This is the same toggle that backers see at checkout — flipping it from the Account section applies to every pledge made by that account, current and future.

Existing accounts that pre-date 0.9.0 keep their previous setting unchanged.
