Uninstalling
Understanding what happens when you deactivate or delete Ignition Crowdfunding.
Deactivating vs. deleting
Section titled “Deactivating vs. deleting”| Action | What happens | Data preserved? |
|---|---|---|
| Deactivate | The plugin stops running, but all data remains in the database. | Yes — campaigns, settings, roles, everything stays. |
| Delete | WordPress runs the plugin’s uninstall script, which removes all plugin data. | No — all data is permanently deleted. |
What deactivation preserves
Section titled “What deactivation preserves”When you deactivate the plugin:
- All campaigns remain in the database (as
igcf_campaignposts). - Campaign categories and tags are preserved.
- The Campaign Backer role and campaign capabilities stay registered.
- Plugin settings (
igcf_settings) remain in the options table. - Pages you created for the campaign form and login/register form are untouched.
You can reactivate the plugin at any time and everything will be exactly as you left it.
What deletion removes
Section titled “What deletion removes”When you delete the plugin from Plugins > Installed Plugins, WordPress runs a complete cleanup in this order:
- Campaigns — All
igcf_campaignposts are permanently deleted (bypassing trash), along with their meta data, revisions, and taxonomy relationships. - Taxonomy terms — All campaign categories and campaign tags are deleted.
- User reassignment — Users with only the Campaign Backer role are reassigned to the site’s default role (typically Subscriber). Users with multiple roles just have the Campaign Backer role removed.
- Roles and capabilities — The Campaign Backer role is removed. Campaign management capabilities are removed from the Administrator role. The Ignition operator tick is removed from every operator; their WordPress roles are left as they are.
- Options — All plugin options (prefixed with
igcf_) are deleted. - Transients — All plugin transients are cleaned up.
Multisite
Section titled “Multisite”On multisite installations, the cleanup runs on every site in the network. Deleting an individual site from Network Admin also removes that site’s crowdfunding data along with the rest of the site. See Multisite for how the plugin behaves on a network.
Pages are not deleted
Section titled “Pages are not deleted”The pages you created for the campaign form and login/register form are regular WordPress pages — they are not deleted during uninstall. You can delete them manually if you no longer need them.
