Payout history
Ignition → Payouts, the History tab. Every payout you have recorded, newest first, and the record of each one.
Nothing here can be edited. A payout is a financial record: it is written once, and the only thing you can do to it afterwards is reverse it, which adds to the history rather than changing it.
The ledger
Section titled “The ledger”| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Payout | The payout’s number, linked to its record. Carries a Reversed badge on a payout that has been reversed, or reads Reversal of #N on the entry that reversed one. |
| Recipient | The creator, linked to their creator record, with their email beneath. A View Payouts action filters the history to just that creator. |
| Amount Sent | What you sent. If it differed from what Ignition suggested, a line beneath says by how much: $40.00 more than suggested. A reversing entry shows as a negative amount. |
| Method | Check, Bank transfer, Cash, or Other. A reversing entry shows an em dash — it moved no money. |
| Reference | The bank or check reference you entered, or an em dash. |
| Payments | How many payments the payout settled. A reversing entry reads 33 released. |
| Date Sent | The date you told Ignition the money left. |
Sort by Date Sent (the default, newest first) or by Amount Sent.
Filtering
Section titled “Filtering”Filter by date offers only the months that actually contain a payout in what you are currently looking at, so an empty month is never on the list. Pick one and press Filter.
Arriving from a creator’s Payout History or View Payouts link scopes the list to that creator. A subtitle then reads “Payouts to Ada Kettle —” with a show all payouts link that drops the creator but keeps the month you had chosen.
The totals line
Section titled “The totals line”Above the table, one sentence covering everything the current filters match — not just the page you are looking at:
12 payouts to Ada Kettle sent in July 2026, totaling $6,755.95.
When reversals are in scope the sentence changes shape and says so:
14 entries — 12 payouts and 2 reversals — totaling $6,131.95, each reversal netted against the payout it reverses.
Currencies are listed side by side and never added together: totaling $6,755.95 and €312.00.
A total can come out negative when a date filter catches a reversal but not the payout it reverses. That is arithmetic, not an error.
A single payout
Section titled “A single payout”Click a payout number to open its record.
The detail table shows Status, Recipient, Campaign, Amount Sent, Suggested Amount, Method, Reference, Private Note, Date Sent, and Recorded (when the record was written, and by whom). Reference is marked Creator sees this — “On the creator’s payouts page, and in the payout email.” Private Note is marked Operator only — “The creator never sees it.”
Below that:
- Payments This Payout Covered — every payment it settled: pledge, backer, date, amount, and the Figure Check mark. If refunds have been recorded against these payments since the payout was made, a line says how far below the suggested amount they now total and why.
- Refunds Netted Against This Payout — refunds this payout absorbed, each with the payout it arrived after. Only shown when there are any.
- Status History — every change to this payout, most recent first, with the date, the change, who made it, and any note. Recorded is therefore the last row. A reversing entry has no status history of its own — the reversal is written against the payout it reverses.
A reversed payout also shows Reversed By, linking to the entry that reversed it. A reversing entry shows Reverses, linking back to the original, and states plainly: “No method and no reference: a reversal moves no money.” Its Reason field carries whatever reason was given.
Reversing a payout
Section titled “Reversing a payout”Reverse a payout when it should not have been recorded — a wrong creator, a payment that never actually cleared, a duplicate.
Open the payout and press Reverse Payout. A confirmation appears:
Reverse payout #14 to Ada Kettle?
The whole payout is canceled. All 33 payments it covered return to the To Pay queue, and Ada Kettle appears there again.
You cannot reverse part of a payout. Nothing is edited or deleted: #14 stays in the history marked Reversed, with a reversing entry beside it.
Add an optional Reason — it is stored on the reversing entry and is not shown to the creator — and press Reverse Payout. You return to the payout’s record with a confirmation: “The payout was reversed. Its payments are back in the To Pay queue.”
What reversing actually does
Section titled “What reversing actually does”- The original payout stays exactly as it was, marked Reversed.
- A separate reversing entry is added, carrying the same amount and pointing at the original.
- Every payment the payout covered goes back into the To Pay queue, so you can record a corrected payout.
- Any refund the payout had absorbed stands again, and comes off the next payout instead.
- The two entries net each other out in the history totals, so your figures stay right.
Nothing is edited and nothing is deleted. That is the point: what you paid and what you took back are both permanently visible, in the order they happened.
What cannot be reversed
Section titled “What cannot be reversed”- A reversal itself. “A reversal cannot itself be reversed.”
- A payout that is already reversed. “Only a paid payout can be reversed.”
- Part of a payout. Reversal is all or nothing. To pay a different amount, reverse the whole thing and record a fresh payout for the amount you meant.
Reversing twice is harmless — the second attempt finds the reversal that already exists rather than creating a second one.
The creator is not emailed when a payout is reversed. Only recording a payout sends mail.
When the history is empty
Section titled “When the history is empty”- “No payouts have been recorded yet. Payouts you record from the To Pay queue appear here.”
- Filtered to a creator with none: “No payouts to Ada Kettle have been recorded.”, with links to show all dates for that creator or show all payouts.
- In Test view: “You’re in Test view. No test payouts have been recorded.”
