Reviewing submissions
When Campaign Moderation is switched on (the default), creators submit their campaigns and updates for review rather than publishing them directly. Nothing a creator writes goes live until staff approve it. This page covers the full workflow — from a creator submitting, through your review, to the emails everyone receives.
Moderation is controlled by the Campaign Moderation setting under Ignition → Settings → Add-ons → Platform Mode. Turn it off and creators publish immediately, with no review step; the queue and approval actions below simply do not appear.
How a creator submits
Section titled “How a creator submits”With moderation on, the final button in the campaign wizard changes from “Publish” to Submit for Review. When a creator submits, the campaign moves into a Pending Review state and waits for you — it is not public yet. Submitted updates behave the same way: they stay pending until approved.
If you reject a campaign, its wizard button becomes Resubmit for Review so the creator can revise and send it back.
The moderation queue
Section titled “The moderation queue”Pending work surfaces in wp-admin without your having to go looking for it:
- Campaigns and Campaign Updates each gain Pending Review and Rejected views (tabs) alongside the usual All / Published lists.
- A count badge appears on the Campaigns menu (and the Updates submenu) showing how many items are waiting, so you can see at a glance when something needs attention.
Approving and rejecting
Section titled “Approving and rejecting”From the Campaigns or Campaign Updates list you can act on submissions in two ways:
- Row actions — hover a pending item and choose Approve or Reject.
- Bulk actions — select several items and approve or reject them together.
Approving a campaign or update publishes it. On the read-only campaign detail page in wp-admin, the same Approve and Reject actions are available, and a rejected campaign shows an inline banner with the date and the reason you gave.
Rejection reasons and feedback
Section titled “Rejection reasons and feedback”Rejecting a single campaign or update requires a reason — you cannot reject without one. The creator sees that reason in their dashboard: a rejected campaign shows a banner in the wizard reading “Changes requested before this campaign can go live,” followed by your feedback, so they know exactly what to fix before resubmitting. (Bulk rejection does not attach a per-item reason.)
Moderation emails
Section titled “Moderation emails”Platform Mode keeps everyone informed by email:
- Staff (administrators and operators) are notified when a campaign is submitted and awaiting review.
- Creators are emailed when their campaign is approved and when it is rejected (with your feedback), and when an update is rejected.
Which notifications send is governed by the same per-recipient controls as the rest of Ignition Crowdfunding’s email — see Email Notifications.
