Starter Images
Curate a library of “starter” featured images that campaign authors can pick from when they don’t have their own image. Starter images appear in a dedicated tab inside the campaign form’s image picker. They are shared — selecting a starter sets the campaign’s featured image to the same attachment, no copy is made.
Flagging an attachment as a starter image
Section titled “Flagging an attachment as a starter image”Starter images are flagged in the standard WordPress Media Library, not in a separate plugin screen.
- Go to Media > Library in wp-admin.
- Open an attachment (click the image, or use Edit in the list view).
- In the attachment details sidebar, toggle Starter Image to On.
- Save the attachment.
The toggle appears alongside Alt Text, Title, and Caption. Only staff (administrators and operators) see the toggle. An operator can mark an image only if their WordPress role lets them edit it.
To remove an attachment from the library, switch the toggle back to Off. The attachment itself is unchanged — only the starter flag is cleared.
In the campaign form
Section titled “In the campaign form”When you open the Insert Image picker on the campaign form, the media frame shows two tabs:
| Tab | Source |
|---|---|
| Upload | Your own uploads from the Media Library |
| Starter Images | The flagged library |
Starter images are available regardless of who uploaded them. Selecting one sets it as the campaign’s featured image; you can change it later by reopening the picker.
Choosing good starter images
Section titled “Choosing good starter images”The picked image is used in several slots — single-campaign hero (1200×675), archive grid card (640×360), dashboard thumbnail (160×90), and the Better Sharing email — all cropped to 16:9. Pick or commission images that:
- Are at least 1200×675 pixels (taller is fine — the wide crop wins)
- Have a clear subject roughly centered, since the focal-point control isn’t available on starter images directly
- Read at small sizes — fine type and tight detail vanish in the thumbnail
