Ignition Crowdfunding v0.17.0
This release refocuses the free core on direct mode — one organization crowdfunding its own projects, where administrators and staff author campaigns. The features for running a site on behalf of outside creators — the campaign creator role, self-service registration, campaign and update moderation, the admin Creators list, and the creator email notifications — move into a new premium add-on, Ignition Platform Mode. Core also gains two new administrator emails and a shortcut from wp-admin into a campaign’s frontend management view.
Platform Mode is now a premium add-on
Section titled “Platform Mode is now a premium add-on”Everything needed to open a site to independent creators has been re-homed into Ignition Platform Mode:
- the non-admin Campaign Creator role and self-service registration,
- campaign and update moderation — the review queue, Approve/Reject, and the pending-review and rejected states,
- the wp-admin Creators list, and
- the creator email notifications (new-backer, approval, rejection, and the campaign lifecycle series).
In a default install, core now runs in direct mode: administrators and staff create and manage campaigns themselves, campaigns publish without a review step, and everyone who signs up is a backer. Activate Ignition Platform Mode when you want the creator role, self-service sign-up, and an approval workflow. See User Roles and Ignition Platform Mode.
New Features
Section titled “New Features”- Campaign Ended (admin email) — Administrators are notified when a campaign ends and its result is ready to declare. Part of the Campaign lifecycle admin category. See Email Notifications.
- Backer Canceled (admin email) — Administrators are notified when a backer cancels a pledge. On by default, since cancellations are low-volume. See Email Notifications.
- Manage on Dashboard — The wp-admin campaign detail page gains a Manage on Dashboard button that opens the campaign’s frontend management view — where you review its pledges and post updates — alongside the existing View and Edit buttons.
Developer
Section titled “Developer”- Campaign extension seams — Core now exposes render and decision seams that add-ons build on: the actions
igcf_campaign_form_rejection_bannerandigcf_campaign_detail_banners, and the filtersigcf_campaign_form_submit_button,igcf_campaign_detail_lifecycle_verbs,igcf_determine_initial_status, andigcf_determine_update_status. See the Actions Reference and Filters Reference. - Frontend confinement filter generalized — The former
igcf_is_creator_only_userfilter is nowigcf_is_frontend_only_user, since core confines backers generically rather than a creator role. See the Filters Reference. - Moderation and creator APIs moved — The moderation abilities (
igcf/approve-campaign,igcf/reject-campaign, and their update counterparts), the creator role, and the creator email classes now live in Ignition Platform Mode. Code that relied on them in core should depend on the add-on.
