Ignition Platform Fees v0.1.0
The first release of Ignition Platform Fees. Set a percentage and a floor, and your platform’s commission is taken out of each contribution at the moment the backer pays — the creator receives their share, you receive yours, and the payment provider settles both. No invoice to send, no payout to chase.
New Features
Section titled “New Features”-
Commission rate and minimum — Two settings under Ignition → Settings → Add-ons → Platform Fees: a percentage, and a floor applied when the percentage works out smaller. The commission on a contribution is whichever is larger, so a percentage of a small pledge can never fall below what it costs you to process. A commission that would equal or exceed the contribution itself is dropped entirely, so a misconfigured floor cannot leave a creator with nothing. See Setting your commission.
-
Charged only where it can actually be collected — A commission is taken only where the gateway will genuinely settle it as the backer pays: today, a pledge through PayPal in Platform mode on a campaign whose creator has connected a payable account. Offline pledges, Direct-mode pledges, and campaigns whose creator cannot be paid carry no commission at all. Nothing is ever recorded that the platform has no way to collect. See Which contributions are charged.
-
Proportional refund reversal — Refunding a contribution gives back the commission in proportion: half a refund reverses half the commission. PayPal performs the reversal at the gateway, and the add-on records it so your figures keep reconciling. See Refunds.
-
A pledge that reconciles — The wp-admin pledge detail page reads as a ledger — amount, commission, refunded, commission reversed, net to the creator — and the Payment Attempts and Refunds tables gain a commission column, so the totals can be checked against the rows beneath them. See Where the numbers appear.
-
Per-creator totals — A creator’s wp-admin detail view gains Platform Commission and Net after Commission beside the gross figures, so you can see what a creator generated and what they actually netted.
-
Creators can reconcile themselves — A creator’s pledge export gains Commission and Net after Commission columns, matching what you see in wp-admin, so a creator can check their own income without asking you.
-
Never shown to backers — Your commission is an arrangement between your platform and your creators. It never appears on a backer’s receipt, in their emails, on their dashboard, or in the net figure shown for their own contribution. See What backers see.
-
Fails loudly, not silently — The add-on refuses to start, naming what to update, if core or Platform Mode is missing or too old, or if PayPal is installed but older than 0.3.0. If no split-capable gateway is present at all it still starts — a future gateway may fill that role — but warns you as soon as a rate is configured, because a rate nothing can collect is worse than no rate.
Developer
Section titled “Developer”- Built entirely on core seams — The add-on exposes no hooks of its own. It reads core’s settlement predicate to decide when to engage, answers the application-fee and per-pledge net seams, and fills the pledge-detail breakdown, creator stat-tile, and creator-export seams. Its own surface for other add-ons is a set of read accessors for commission by attempt, pledge, campaign, or creator. See the Platform Fees reference.
