Ignition PayPal Gateway v0.3.0

This release makes the PayPal gateway work with the new Ignition Platform Fees add-on. Platform Fees only takes a commission where a gateway will genuinely settle it at the moment of payment, and PayPal now answers that question for its own pledges — so a commission is only ever recorded against money PayPal actually splits.

  • Works with Platform Fees — On a pledge paid through PayPal in Platform mode, PayPal now reports whether it will settle the platform’s cut when it captures the payment. It answers yes only where the split is genuinely viable for that campaign — the same check the checkout already runs before offering a split — so the fee that gets recorded and the money that actually moves can never disagree. A pledge PayPal cannot split carries no commission at all, rather than one recorded and never collected. See Platform mode.

This answer describes the gateway, not your settings. In Direct mode, or on a campaign whose creator has not connected a payable PayPal account, the answer is no and no commission is taken.

  • Repeat refunds after a sandbox reset — The reference sent to PayPal to stop a refund being submitted twice is now tied to the specific captured payment, not just the refund record. This only shows up while testing: resetting a development database recycles low refund numbers, while PayPal remembers references across resets, so a re-test could be rejected as a duplicate request. Live sites were never affected, because refund numbers there are never reused.

Ignition PayPal Gateway 0.3.0 requires Ignition Crowdfunding 0.19.0 or later. Platform mode additionally requires Ignition Platform Mode, and collecting a commission requires Ignition Platform Fees.
