Ignition Contributions v0.1.0

The first release of Ignition Contributions, a premium add-on for Ignition Crowdfunding. At checkout a backer can choose to cover the platform commission the creator would otherwise absorb, cover the payment processing cost, or add a tip for your site — each one opt-in, each one itemised, and each one refusable before they authorise the payment. Requires Ignition Crowdfunding 0.22.0 or later.

  • Three voluntary additions at checkout — A panel on the review step headed Add to your payment offers up to three separate choices on top of the pledge: cover the platform fee, cover the processing fee, and a tip chosen from your percentage presets. Each is independent, and a backer who wants none pays exactly their pledge. See What a backer sees.
  • A settings screen per option — Turn each option on or off, pre-select it or not, and write your own backer-facing wording of up to 80 characters. The tip takes up to four percentage presets and a default; the processing cover takes the percentage and per-transaction fee you copy from your gateway’s pricing page. See Configuring the options.
  • Warnings when an option cannot reach backers — Each section says so on its own when its option cannot work on this site — no online payment method, pledges collected centrally rather than routed to creators, Platform Fees missing or too old — names the reason in a sentence, and links to the screen that would fix it. A warned section goes grey and keeps everything you configured, so it starts working again untouched when the condition clears. See When an option cannot reach backers.
  • A heads-up before you change pledge routing — With this add-on installed, the Who Receives Pledges setting in Platform Mode lists by name which Contributions options the other choice would turn off, and why, before you switch it. Only options you have switched on that work today are listed, in the same words the Contributions screen uses. See Who receives pledges.
  • A live total the backer can trust — The breakdown, the total above it and, where the checkout offers a choice of payment method, a Total to be charged line under that chooser all move together as the backer picks and unpicks options. Switching payment method swaps the panel for what that method can offer and recalculates. If the total is ever recalculated to something other than the figure the page was showing, the payment is refused rather than taken — no pledge, no charge, no account created.
  • The same breakdown everywhere after payment — The on-site receipt, the payment received email, the backer’s own pledge page and the wp-admin pledge money statement all itemise the charge with the same rows, the same labels and the same order, ending in Total charged. The admin statement additionally shows a backer’s tip as a Tip (platform) line under Where it went. See On the receipt, in email, and on their pledge page.
  • Refunds account for the additions — A refund is issued against the whole charge, so a full refund returns the additions along with the pledge, and a returned tip stops counting as your revenue. A payment that carried a voluntary addition cannot be partially refunded from wp-admin: Ignition declines it and asks you to refund in full, rather than guess which of the money was pledge and which was extra. See Refunds.
  • A partial refund still takes off the whole tip — If a partial refund reaches a pledge that carried a tip — one issued in the gateway’s own dashboard and reconciled back, rather than through Ignition — this release deducts the tip in full rather than in proportion. That can leave the pledge’s net below zero, and it is shown that way rather than rounded up to $0.00. See When a refund leaves you below zero.
  • No hooks of its own yet — This release exposes no action, filter or registry for other plugins to extend. It is a consumer of core’s money seams — the checkout review money slot, the pledge breakdown components, the amount to charge, the application fee and net-to-creator seams, and the settlement terms behind the admin pledge statement — all of which are documented under add-on seams in the core reference.
  • Requires Ignition Crowdfunding 0.22.0 — The checkout money slot, the shared charge breakdown and the settlement-terms statement it builds on all arrive in core 0.22.0. The add-on refuses to start on an older core and names what to update.
  • The commission cover needs Ignition Platform Fees 0.3.0 — Platform Fees older than that charges no commission this add-on can see, so the commission cover is withheld and its section says so. The tip and the processing cover are unaffected.
